Wishing all of you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving.
This holiday has always felt like a pause in the year, where everything slows for just a moment. The inbox quiets, the pace softens, and we are reminded, sometimes gently and sometimes with a jolt, of what actually matters. It is a needed interruption to the cadence of doing so that we can reconnect with being.
Every year at this time, I find myself sitting with a deep sense of gratitude. I am grateful for the work I do, for the entrepreneurs and teams I get to walk alongside, and for the industry to which we have all devoted so much of our lives. I am grateful because this industry, unlike any other, is rooted in something more than commerce. It is rooted in care.
At a recent retreat, my teammate Waven offered a reminder that stopped the room in its tracks. He said that what makes this industry truly unique is that we form a sacred trust between the consumer and us. Our products either go into or on the human body. There is no other industry that literally becomes a biological part of those who use it. That is a powerful responsibility. It is also a profound privilege.
It means that the work we do matters. It means that our choices matter. It means that the quality and integrity of what we create matter because it becomes part of someone, carried within them long after the transaction is over.
When you step back and really take that in, it gives new meaning to the urgency, the long hours, the attention to every detail, the endless pursuit of better. We are not just building brands. We are nourishing people. We are contributing to their well-being. And because what we choose to eat significantly impacts the health of our planet, we are also shaping a healthier future for the world we all share.
This is the sacred trust that sits between a company and a consumer.
It is not a marketing concept.
It is not a point of differentiation.
It is an ethic.
It is the foundation on which this industry stands.
And as we head into Thanksgiving, it is worth acknowledging the weight and the honor of that trust. It is worth honoring the responsibility you carry simply by choosing to build in this space.
But I also want to shift gears for a moment.
One of the five dimensions of scale is Energy Management. Too many entrepreneurs ride what I often call the cortisol train. The grit-and-grind mindset is worn like armor, even as it slowly erodes the very resilience required to lead. There is always another fire, another email, another deadline, another crisis masked as urgency.
The truth is that stepping off that train matters.
Stepping into the arms of the people you love matters.
Taking time to celebrate the season matters.
Letting yourself rest, breathe, and remember why you do this work matters.
This is not a luxury.
This is not an indulgence.
This is a strategy.
It is an imperative.
When you allow yourself space to be human, you replenish the very energy required to lead with clarity, conviction, and compassion. When you step away, you return stronger. When you separate yourself from the constant noise of the business, you reconnect with the meaning beneath the work.
So as you head into this holiday, give yourself permission to be fully present.
Celebrate. Laugh. Share a meal. Be grateful.
Sit in the quiet if that is what you need.
Sit in the warmth of family and friends if that is what fills you.
And as you do, hold close the sacred trust that you steward and the importance of the work you have chosen. This is meaningful work. You are contributing to something larger than yourself. And you are part of a community that is collectively making things just a little bit better.
Enjoy the holiday. Practice gratitude. Protect your energy.
And know that I am grateful for you.
Happy Thanksgiving.
